Ian Hewitt

Chairman, All England Lawn Tennis Club

Ian was a partner for over 25 years with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a leading international law firm, specialising in corporate/commercial work.  This job included terms as managing partner of the firm’s offices in New York and Amsterdam.

His Tennis pedigree includes playing for and captaining Oxford University, Cumberland LTC and Hampshire & IOW (whom he represented at County Week for over 20 years including playing in Group I). Ian has been an active administrator in the game and represented the Club on the LTA Council for a number of years. He has produced various books on sport including “Centre Court: The Jewel in Wimbledon’s Crown” (2009 and 2014) with John Barrett and “Wimbledon: Visions of The Championships” (2010) with Bob Martin.

Ian has been a Member of The All England Lawn Tennis Club since 1998 and joined the Club Committee in 2002. As Chairman he sits ex officio on all Committees.  He is Chairman of The All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc.
