For Amanda Manzoni, diversity has always been a central theme in her career, both in terms of personal and professional expertise. Having started her career in a 90% male environment in Aberdeen, she has always championed issues of equality throughout her career and has seen the energy industry really transform during this period. Most recently she has coached and mentored women from all over the world to fully realise their leadership potential.
Amanda’s passion for staff diversity is centred in her belief that differing viewpoints are beneficial to the business because they add important value and a breadth of knowledge and skills. Her approach and impact in this regard have been crucial in producing a consistently outstanding level of global customer service across 44,000 branded Shell retail sites.
As you might expect from someone who has been a driving force behind diversity and flexible working at Shell, Amanda has balanced her family life and three children with a highly successful career. Having joined Shell in 1990 after graduating from Southampton University with a degree in Sociology, Social Policy and Industrial Relations, she has spent the last 25+ years’ championing a global workforce of more than 90,000 people.

Amanda’s HR career has spanned the globe and has covered many sectors from Corporate functions, Distribution to Manufacturing and Retail. Operating at Board level for the past decade, Amanda is a seasoned HR and Transformation director who has also run significant HR business operations.
